The activities consisted of competitions and sporting events, workshops / seminars with the purpose to disseminate the thematic of the project, conferences, and research on the application of techniques and appropriate measures to eliminate the racism phenomenon.

The activities took place over three years, in Brașov, Roma, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Belgrade and Debrecen. The most important roles were of the representatives of sports clubs (trainers, administrative staff) from Romania (Brașov), Serbia (Belgrade) and Hungary (Debrecen) regarding the implementation at sport level, while at academic and educational level, the most important were those from Greece, Italy and Bulgaria.

During the three years, each partner had material resources, such as sports equipment, promotional and consumable materials and a budget of 15.000 euro for the purchase of the materials, travel and other costs incurred for the implementation of the project.

As a result of reporting to the proposed objectives, BRISWA achieved its goals by:

– obtaining information that formed the basis of the manual and courses on identifying racist attitudes and ways to remove them;

– the participation in seminars and sports competitions of more than 10,000 people of different cultures, religions and nationalities, people who were either subjected to a racist attitude or encountered it;.

BRISWA had an impact in several areas of activity, such as public partner institutions of sports clubs in organizing sporting events, universities that made available research laboratories or have shown interest in promoting the results of the project in their courses and to their students, but especially on the members of the society through seminars. All participants expressed interest in harmonizing their strategies and policies to reduce racism and eliminate it as much as possible in their fields of activity.

The sustainability of the initiative lies in the very degree of promotion in different fields and structures that continuously apply the practices regarding the elimination of racist attitudes.

The workshops were of great success, both the workshop regarding the dissemination as a result of the information techniques and methods exchange, of eliminating racism attitudes, and the sports activities where minorities and persons with disabilities participated.

No issues occurred in the project’s implementation.

Following the research done during the project and based on the questionnaire completed by the participants in the sports activities, the members of the BRISWA consortium developed a manual and a program of courses that helps  identify racism by using mathematical models and simulation techniques. It also looked at how to apply the appropriate techniques and measures to prevent the spread of racism within the club and how to name and train the person in charge of identifying racist attitudes and managing these cases withing the club, given that these practices have not been implemented previously.

It is important to recognize the existence of racism in sports, regardless of the domain, to identify people affected by it and how they are affected, to pay more attention to vulnerable people and to organize as many activities as possible to bring together people who may be subject to racist attitudes.
